Registered Optician Renewal
As a Registered Optician in Ontario you are required to renew your Certificate of Registration with the College on an annual basis, on or before December 31st.
The following video walks you through the renewal process from logging in and password reset through to obtaining your receipt.

The renewal portal opens October 31st. Renewing as soon as you receive the notice allows you to check the renewal off the to-do list, receive your renewal decal in the mail, and resolve any potential issues that may arise as part of the renewal.
Not planning on renewing?
We have made it easy for you to notify the College of your decision. Just login to the member portal, click the 'Renew your Registration' button, select the reason for not renewing, acknowledge the declaration, and the information will be forwarded directly to us.
The renewal is accessible through the member portal. Please select Member Login at the top right corner of the page to get started.
The renewal is made up of several parts. Please ensure you have the following information when you are ready to renew:
A new passport sized photo
If your photograph has been submitted before January 2014 you will be required to provide a new photo. Please upload a photo that has the same format as a passport photo for your new identification badge. Detailed photo requirements are outlined in Registration FAQs
You are required to provide a copy of your Professional Liability Insurance to the College as part of your renewal. To ensure your renewal can be approved right away, please have a copy of your insurance certificate available for upload when you complete your renewal.
If your citizenship status in Canada has changed or expired you are required to update your information with the College and provide notarized documentary proof of same. Please review the Proof of Citizenship requirements on the Registration FAQs page for additional information.
Please renew your Certificate of Registration before December 31st to avoid incurring late fees, confirm there are no outstanding requirements, and to ensure you are eligible to practice in Ontario in the upcoming year. Please note the College is mandated to send suspension notices to all members who have not renewed by December 31st.
If you choose not to renew your certificate of registration, and accept the declaration, you will receive an email from the College acknowledging your decision and notifying you of your options should you choose to practice as an optician in Ontario in the future. Please note your status on the public register will be changed to "Not Entitled to Practice".
If you complete your online renewal but don't submit all required documents, or the documents require review by the Registration department, you will receive an email notifying you that your renewal is on hold pending the submission and/or review of the outstanding requirements.
If you complete the online renewal and meet all the requirements for approval, you will receive an email thanking you for renewing within 48 hours of your submission. Your decals and/or badge will be mailed to you shortly following approval.
Official Tax Receipt
Your tax receipt will be immediately available to you on the member portal upon your making payment. To access your receipt please login to your member portal, select the documents tab, and the year in which you renewed. If you pay for your renewal before December 31 your receipt will be part of your 2018 receipts. If you pay after December 31, your receipt will be part of your 2019 receipts.
