By-Laws Consultation – Feedback Requested

The College is seeking your feedback on proposed changes to the public register.

The College of Opticians of Ontario currently lists the gender of Registered Opticians (F, M, or X) on the public register. While this practice is consistent with the provincial policy on collecting, using, retaining and displaying sex and gender information, as well as the Ontario Human Right Commission’s best practices for collecting data on sex and gender, it could result in possible discrimination against an optician on the basis of their gender.

The College is proposing a by-law amendment1 that would result in the gender of opticians no longer being displayed on the public register.

Please take a few minutes to share your feedback on the proposed change by completing this short survey. The survey will be open until Monday, May 11, 2020.

Thank you for your feedback.
