District 1 Supplemental Nomination Period, 2023 Elections

We are writing to provide an important update about the upcoming COO elections. An initial call for nominations for opticians in District 1 went on July 21, 2023. At this time, however, there are no nominations for eligible candidates in District 1. In light of this, we are announcing a supplemental nomination period to give potential candidates from District 1 who were unable to submit a nomination during the initial window another opportunity to participate. Nominations for opticians in District 1, will be accepted until Monday, September 18, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

District 1, (Southern) is comprised of The Regional Municipality of Halton, The City of Hamilton, The Regional Municipality of Niagara, The Regional Municipality of Haldimond – Norfolk, and The County of Brant.

As a District 1 optician, we hope you will consider seeking nomination for yourself or for another optician in your district who shares the COO’s commitment to regulating the profession in the public interest.

Visit the elections page for details on the nominations process. Submit your completed nomination package by email to elections@collegeofopticians.ca before 1:00 pm on Monday, September 18, 2023.
