Get Involved as an Appointed Member on COO Committees

Serving as an appointed committee member is a personally and professionally rewarding way of contributing to safe and high-quality vision care for Ontario patients. If you are a Registered Optician interested contributing to public protection, consider getting involved.

Appointments are for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2021, ending December 31, 2023. Compensation, including reasonable expenses, is provided. The deadline for applications is October 30, 2020, and interviews with selected candidates will be held on November 23, 2020. Free Professional Growth Credits are Available on the COO website

The jurisprudence tool is an educational resource for Registered Opticians which provides information about the laws, standards, and guidelines that affect opticianry in Ontario. The handbook has been recently updated and now includes four accredited professional growth (PG) chapters. The most recent Chapter, Chapter 4: Introduction to the RHPA, is optional and can be completed every three years. For more information on the jurisprudence handbook visit our website. 

Annual Registration Renewal Portal Opens on October 30 

The online registration portal will open on October 30 for Opticians to renew their registration for 2021. Due to the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on opticians, fees for 2021 have been reduced by $250 to assist opticians register for the coming year without placing an undue burden on ROs or by extension, patients. Please contact registration@collegeofopticians.ca if you have any questions about renewing your registration for 2021.
