Elections 2023 District 8 (Central) Supplemental Nomination Period

We are writing to provide an important update about the upcoming COO elections. As of the nomination deadline, which was yesterday (August 28, 2023) at noon, no nominations were received for opticians in District 8 (Central). District 8 is comprised of Alliston, Aurora, Barrie, Bradford, Collingwood, Concord, Gormley, Hillsdale, Keswick, King City, Kleinburg, Maple, Markham, Midland, New Market, Orillia, Penetanguishine, Port Severn, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Vaughan *.

In light of this, we are announcing a supplemental nomination period to give potential candidates from District 8 who were unable to submit a nomination during the initial window another opportunity to participate. Nominations for opticians in District 8, will be accepted until Monday September 11, 2023 at 1:00pm.

If you are a District 8 optician, we hope you will consider seeking nomination for yourself or for another optician in your district who shares the COO’s commitment to regulating the profession in the public interest.
