Professional Practice Support Program

This program establishes a consistent and user-friendly resource for information or advice.  The Professional Practice Support Program promotes quality practice.

For registrants who would like to obtain information or practice advice from the Practice Advisor, the Professional Practice Support Program is a service developed for:

• Registrants
• Patients
• Members of the public

This program also provides the College of Opticians of Ontario with information about the practice of opticianry and on emerging trends and issues related to the delivery of vision care.

It serves as a tangible link between the College and its registrants, the public, other healthcare professionals as well as other various stakeholders.

Through the Professional Practice Support Program members have access to the following services and resources:

• Individualized practice advice from the Practice Advisor regarding:
  • standards and regulations
  • privacy and confidentiality
  • scope of practice
  • workplace issues
  • expectations of the profession
  • the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 
  • other relevant legislation
  • how laws and regulations affect the practice of opticianry in Ontario
